I had a very disappointing experience in the maternity neurology department. There seemed to be miscommunication, and the information provided was often unclear and inconsistent. At the hospital entrance, I also noticed people smoking, which felt inappropriate in a maternity environment. I felt that the conclusions were not reconsidered after the initial results. My newborn baby had a blood test that came back negative, but I still received conflicting advice afterwards, which was confusing and stressful. I also felt pressured into additional testing, such as a urine test, even though my baby was only a few days old and the blood test showed no issues. Overall, I did not feel reassured, properly informed, or well supported during this experience.

Dont go to this hospital. My dad went in for a simple procedure, but while inserting a catheter, they caused severe damage to several of his organs—it was an atrocity. They didn't even bother to tell us; we only found out when he started developing an internal infection and we ended up at another hospital.

I was 20 years old (I'm now 76) and was living in Canada when I developed Steven-Johnson syndrome. It wasn't diagnosed in Canada. I then moved to the USA where it was not diagnosed either. I then moved to the UK where it was not diagnosed either. I then moved to Brussels where the clever dermatology at Brugman Univerity hospital finally diagnosed this syndrome, successfully treated me with cortisone and it has never come back! Nota: For 5 years of this appearing 4 or 5 times a year and each time I was incapacitated for 4 weeks. Thank you Brugman, I take my hat off to you!

They booked my appointment for a date that was one year in the past, it was the wrong type of appointment, for which I had to call the reschedule for a date in the future. I never got any confirmation email for my appointment, did not know where to show up for my appointment. The info was not open and there was no information which building of the dozens of buildings I should go to find the info/accueil. I also waited eventually at the accueil for 20 minutes while being already late for my appointment despite having arrived early.

My dad is at this hospital in neurologie. Let me tell you…. We we’re waiting for him to get a check up by the doctors. I was expecting an actual conversation between him and the providers. I was shocked to see that the opposite happened. They called him out into the hallway and circled him. Instead of asking insightful questions they asked him if he wanted to see a psychologist for what happened to him. My dad needs medical attention and rehabilitation not a therapist. When they saw I was there one of the head doctors gave me a strong scolding on how I should not be there. I was 20 minutes early to visitation. Mind you we had asked staff if it was ok to be a little early everyone was fine. The doctors were absolutely rude and demeaning. Talked to us like we were children when nothing was actually happening besides my disappointment in their way of treating patients and family member. It’s a very depressing unit where patients are mainly left to themselves. This was not his only unit, he was also in cardiology. It wasn’t any better. You’ve got patients begging for help in both and both instances no one came. I actually asked a nurse to help a person who had an issue with their machine when no one was coming to help. They still sat there and ordered their food. Both units just laughing, not paying attention. This is a parent to me so of course I expect doctors and nurses to be professional and give him the best care that they possibly can with their already busy schedules. They seem to forget their humanity.
