It's a real shame that this mosque doesn't accept children as young as 5… And it's a real shame that the person in charge of registration discourages children in their quest to learn the Quran… A teenager who walks through the doors of a mosque to learn should be valued and listened to by the mosque's representatives, since it is indeed a mosque! You expect children to come to you already knowing how to recite like an imam, but if that were the case, what would you have to teach them? Today, we struggle to find teenagers interested in learning the Holy Quran, and who, at 13, have the ambition to one day lead a prayer. You have crushed that hope… Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) said: “The representatives of Iblis on earth are those who discourage people from seeking knowledge and acquiring understanding of the religion. They are more harmful to them than the devils among the jinn, for they come between hearts and the guidance of Allah and His path.” 45
