  I traveled to Zottegem to follow in the footsteps of Lamoraal van Egmont, the founder of the Lordship of Beijerland (Netherlands), where I come from. It was wonderful to see that, more than 450 years after his beheading, they have furnished a beautiful room dedicated to him and his wife, featuring items and information about the count. It is also fantastic that they inform local schools about him in a playful manner. I was also allowed to look inside the crypt itself with a City Hall employee; that is something I will not soon forget. Thank you, Municipality of Zottegem, for honoring this hero who fought for freedom from persecution based on origin or religion, a struggle we still fight for today.
