I lived in Waregem for 6.5 years. I didn’t have any negative experiences. Despite the fact that I didn’t know Dutch, I spoke English only. Stadhuis staff is very very helpful. Now I live overseas and had to solve some paperwork with stadhuis Waregem and it was a pleasure to ask for help! Thank you!

I was just too late on a Saturday afternoon to get to the tourist office, which is a shame. You'll have to look elsewhere. Beautiful building, very modern.

Desselgem can completely fall into disrepair, as long as Waregem keeps looking good. Then they will respond by asking you to contact them via official channels, without mentioning that you will be completely ignored there. Collecting tax money like the best, providing services like the worst. Waregem.

The municipal government is making up its own legislation, which, they believe, trumps federal regulations. This raises questions and, moreover, costs citizens too much time and effort. Transparency, engagement, and expertise are slipping away to non-existent. Stay vigilant, everyone!
