For me, I was pleasantly surprised and satisfied to find a (brief) explanation panel, and in English too, hanged outside of the building. The city hall is a beautiful imposing building on the main, and renovated, square, on the opposite side of the old market and the library. 👍🥰

As a Spanish citizen living in Belgium, my experience with the commune of Vilvoorde has been extremely disappointing. It is not a commune that supports or helps foreigners at all. I had to go more than five times just to be able to complete the process for my Belgian ID. Each time, I received different information, no clear guidance, and no real willingness to help. This situation is exhausting and unacceptable for such a basic administrative procedure. What makes it even worse is that I speak one of the official languages of the country and also English, yet communication was still a problem because the staff showed little patience or interest in explaining things properly. At one point, they even laughed at me for not understanding the term “net landed income,” instead of taking a moment to explain it in a professional way. Public servants should be there to assist people, especially newcomers who are trying to integrate. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here

Bad attitude overal even to Dutch speakers. Is it so hard to show some kindness to people ? If it that’s hard get another job where you don’t have to deal with people! The receptionist is just very rude and impatient, especially to people who don’t speak Dutch. The person who was next in line was treated to poorly cause he didn’t speak very well Dutch. Please get staff that is friendly and nice to people even tho they don’t speak the language there’s no need for being rude
