I lived in Overijse for 3 years with my family, we always found the people there really pleasant, helpful and efficient. The Gemeente has a policy of only speaking Dutch which is difficult for non native speakers but this is not to be unhelpful. Each time I visited the representatives helped as much as they could despite the difficult circumstances. Really nice area and municipality.

A particularly disappointing municipality. The general impression is that of a poorly maintained and unwelcoming place, where the bicycle is clearly king and pedestrians, motorists, and visitors with animals are barely taken into account in policy. There are far too few public trash cans, the sidewalks are often anything but practical or adapted for pedestrians, and zebra crossings are simply insufficient in many places. Moreover, walking a dog here is anything but pleasant or practical. On top of that, there are the endless roadworks, which sometimes make businesses and restaurants almost inaccessible. Furthermore, the works have a huge impact on traffic in the entire area and even on the motorway. Communication and service come across as particularly unopen and unfriendly to customers. In short: there is a lot of work to be done regarding cleanliness, maintenance, accessibility, road safety, and hospitality.
