Dilbeek is not a municipality with language facilities and strictly applies Flemish legislation, but any sanction against citizens or business owners for using French outside of official contexts would be considered abusive and could be challenged in court. In short, the mayor can require Dutch in official and administrative dealings, but he is not authorized to completely prohibit the speaking of French in the municipality. "God smiles on the efforts of two poor people who help each other." "Unity is strength."

You are really treated like a foreigner if you have a different nationality. Longer wait before someone sits down at the counter for foreigners. Most of the staff don't even notice you or look at you as if you just came from the zoo. Unprofessional and just discrimination, with a touch of racism thrown in, of course.

A very beautiful town with amenities for everyone, and easy to open a French-speaking business without any problems. A well-maintained town with attractive residents, lovely houses, and green spaces. The only downside is the price of the houses.
