A beautiful building on the "Groote Markt" in Diest, the building is from 1728. There is a small museum underneath the front building. At the backside is an added on, more modern building in which the actual civil work is done. They offer a good service and are helping many people to make the transition to online services.

The Neoclassical town hall of Diest is a gem of craftsmanship. It was built between 1726 and 1731 according to the plans of Willem Ingnatius Kerricx. It consists of red brick, mullioned windows, and white limestone. The entire structure is crowned with the coat of arms of Diest. In 1948, an entirely new platform with stairs was added. The municipal museum is located beneath the town hall. Further on stands the statue of Nicolaes Cleynaerts. He was also known as "Clenardus" (Diest 5/12/1493 – Granada 1542). He was a Belgian Catholic priest, theologian, humanist, and Arabist who advocated for greater humanity and compassion within Christianity and strived for a rapprochement between Christianity and Islam.
